Some individuals choose not to use their insurance company. There are a variety of reasons a person may choose to do this. Some of these reasons include not wanting your insurance company to know you are receiving services, this often allows better control over how often you can be seen. In order for insurance companies to pay for a session there needs to be what is called "medical necessity"--some type of diagnosis which the insurance company is willing to cover. Some individuals choose not to want this type of information shared, even with their insurance company, choosing to keep their information as private as possible.
Yes, I accept several insurance plans.
Please call your insurance company and ask if I am one of their providers. If I am not a provider for your insurance company you are expected to pay the full fees at the time of the service. I will be glad to bill your insurance company for our sessions and either have the amount the insurance company reimburses applied to your next appointment or you can choose to have the reimbursement sent directly to you from the insurance company.
If I am a provider for your insurance company then you would only be responsible for any deductible amount, copay, or co-insurance which is due at the time of the service.
It is important to understand that not all services are covered by insurance. For instance, some insurance companies cover hypnosis while others do not. Services such as Performance Enhancement or Coaching are never covered by health insurance.
When possible I try to contact your insurance company prior to our first visit to have answers to the following questions. This helps reduce confusion regarding your insurance benefits.
- Does the insurance cover out-of-network providers?
- Is there a deductible and has it been met?
- What is the copay for mental health visits?
- Is there any co-insurance required?
- How many outpatient mental health sessions does the plan cover per year?
- Is authorization necessary from the insurance company prior to receiving counseling?
Limited short-term fee reductions are available on a case-by-case basis for clients who have extenuating financial circumstances and who are not using insurance. Contractual obligations with insurance companies prohibit us from discounting fees for clients using insurance.
Payment for services
Payment is due at time of service. Cash, check and all major credit and debit cards are accepted as payment.
Failure to provide at least 24 hours cancellation notice will result in a $60 cancellation fee that must be paid at or before the next scheduled visit.
